oak + arbor
Based in Canton, Ohio, I’m Chris, a husband, father, and Realtor with a lifelong interest in building and craftsmanship. Woodworking allows me to slow down and create functional objects that blend purpose with design.
What began in my grandfather’s workshop has grown into a dedicated shop of my own. Every board is personally hand-selected at the mill, then brought back to the shop where it’s milled and surfaced by hand.
Starting from rough-sawn hardwood gives us full control of the process and ensures each finished piece reflects the natural variation and character of the material.
Every piece is unique by design.
why hardwood?
We work exclusively with hardwoods because of their durability, stability, and character. Species like maple, walnut, and cherry are dense, long-lasting, and well suited for everyday use in the kitchen. They hold up to years of prep while remaining gentle on knife edges.
Hardwood also tells a story. Grain patterns, color variation, and natural markings are what make each piece unique. Rather than trying to hide those details, we design around them.
By starting with rough-sawn hardwood and milling each board by hand, we’re able to control the process from start to finish and let the material guide the final result. The goal is simple: create functional pieces that age well, improve with use, and don’t need to be replaced.
